Time lag between end of processing and end ok on CM

Post by craigy66 » 02 Oct 2008 5:13

Jobs run on Open VMS system.

Jobs end execution on Open VMS. There is a time difference of 6 to 20 minutes before ended ok on Control M GUI shows up.

Same when a job abends. Abend shows on Open VMS console, can take up to 15 minutes to show on Control M GUI that job ended not ok.

Does anyone know why the time lag? Or hwere to look for a problem?

thanks,

Craig

It possibly turns up after 15 minutes, because Control-M server is active with his tracker (AT) process which contact the Control-M agent on your machine.
We als had delays which insisted a couple of days, but then completely blocked the functioning of Control-M.
The reason was the problem with resolving the reverse DNS for a certain Control-M agent running on another machine. I did tell BMC that I would have liked an alert about degradation of the Control-M servers functionality. See WMPM007073 (it was not resolved in 6.3 an possibly also not in 6.4, because a lot of coding needs to be rewritten).

These problems many times is in the comunication between server and agent machines.
Control in the system parameters the comunication ports:
1)server-to-agent (can be different on any agent)
2)agent-to-server (is only one port for all agents)

your problem can be on the second point.
In this case the order to start execute a job arrive immediatly, the job became yellow but when ends still remain yellow untill the server ask the state to the agent.
So go on the agent machine and try to do telnet to the server port.
So you control that the DNS works correctly too.
