Installing ControlM Server with MSSQL server

Post by sharonc » 22 Sep 2006 2:58

I'm trying to install ControlM Server with MSSQL server database on a Windows 2003 SE server. The MSSQL server version used is 2005.
When i get to the prompt where i select the Database Server name, i select from a list. When i click next,
I get an error message: "3026E Connection to MS SQL Server Failed".
Has anyone come across this before?
I'm new to MSSQL server, so maybe i've configured something wrong somewhere.
Thanks.

Hi,

You need SQL Client installed where you want to install your Control-M Server and defined the SQL Server name and its ip address.

You must find a sql.ini file on your server, including all those informations.

Thanks. But when I installed MSSQL Server 2005, it already has something called "native client" installed. I saw it in the list when i go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel.
But, I cannot find sql.ini ....

Hi

Sorry I did a mistake about sql.ini
If you install Control-M Server on the same server than MS SQL Server you don't need to install MS SQL Client.

So be carefull MS SQL Server 2005 is not supported for Control-M Server 6.1.03 or 6.2.01. Only MQ SQL 2000 in English.

Before to launch your install process, try to have an access with ODBC Manager on your MS SQL Server. It's a good test.

After that, verify the number of MS SQL Instance port, login and user, you must need of them during Control-M Server installation.

I've had enough trying to troubleshoot MSSQL2005. So, i uninstalled MSSQL2005 and installed MSSQL2000. It seems to be working now. Thanks for your help...

Hi Skaven

In fact it's already the case concerning Control-M/EM 6.3.01.
That version is supported with MsSQL Server 2005 but only in english.

Normally, it will be the same for Control-M Server 6.3.01.
