About disaster recovery with Control-M

Post by th_alejandro » 23 Jul 2009 12:23

I want to implement in my company a 'disaster recovery' model for Control-M server. Who can recommend me an strategy as 'weel practice' ?.

For example. i try to use mirroring server for control-m, and backup from ctm and em database in oracle but when i tried to use Control-M in the new server simply not works very well. The documentation from BMC is very pour about this methodology.

Number of Control-M servers : 1
Number of agent installed : 15
Number of ftp account defined (with other machines) : 125
Number of jobs : Aprox. 14,000 in more than 150 scheduling tables.
Control-M Server v6.3.0.1, last fix pack updated : .400

Hi

You must determinate your level of services at first.
If you need to be able to restart on your backup site with the smallest time you can, you will prefer :

- to build a replication engine to your database
- to use a cluster to switch automatically your application

If now you can accept more time to restart on your backup site.
you can choose the solution to dump from the first and reload on the backup.

Anyhow, I will not advice to use failover process. Time to synchronise Control-M server could be long, and will impact the plan.
