Need a perfect scheduler for my jobs

Post by venky144 » 02 Nov 2010 7:42

Hello All,
I have some perl scripts to be run every half an hr or one hr every day.
These perl scripts in turn invoke ETL DataStage jobs which might run for a max of 10 mins.
Can Control-M schedule these erpl scripts to run at our required timings.
Database is SQL Server 2005
OS is Windows Server 2005
Our current scheduler is System Scheduler Pro from Splinterware.
We are not happy with the performance of this kind of scheduler.

Control-M can do this very easily I have it run perl script from 8AM to 6PM every 5 minutes or you could have it 10 times every number of minutes you want.
It is very flexible to scheduled jobs :D

It can run on many different platforms including vm, Unix, Linux and windows.
And it is pretty easy to use. I am sure BMC will give you a web-ex demostration of it.

They have two kinds of pricing
1. is so much for the number of jobs you will be running daily
2. is so much for each server that will be used to run jobs on.
1-2 cpus is a lower price and 3-8 cpus is a higher price.
And then you also pay for Contol-Manger and so much for each Conrol-M/Admin user.
