CM for AFT error

Post by mauriziog » 27 Sep 2007 1:54

Sometimes I have this error in the transfer file:
FTP_update_stat_file: file '.\cm\AFT\stat\STAT_21nlo_00001' open failed
FTP_file_open: failed to lock '.\cm\AFT\stat\STAT_21nlo_00001': Access is denied.

The job transfer is ok but the job termines NOTOK.
When rerun the job all is OK

The error is in the agent stat file access, and is not frequent.
I think that is due to the load of agent machine.
Someone have esperienced this error?

The directory \cm\AFT\stat\ by witch process is used?
Can I purge the olds files without lost any data?

I have seen that the "STAT_ORDERID_RUNCOUT" files in this directory are structured like a xml files.

I met the same situation (msg error) a few months ago and i have constated this:

Sysout are deleted in : C:\Program Files\BMC Software\CONTROLM-Agent\Default\CM\AFT\sysout
but not in : C:\Program Files\BMC Software\CONTROLM-Agent\Default\CM\AFT\stat

Check this:

The problem is probably in the Agent account user permissions. It looks like Agent user for some reason has no permission to delete CM for AFT sysout and stat files . Please ask the customer to add security permissions to CM folder.
In Windows Explorer navigate to X:\Program Files\BMC Software\CONTROL-M Agent\Default folder.
Select "CM" folder and press right mouse button. Go to the "Properties" -> "Security" and add "Everyone".
Please check "Allow inheritable permissions..." ON.
Be sure all files under D:\Program Files\BMC Software\CONTROL-M Agent\Default\CM\AFT\sysout and D:\Program Files\BMC Software\CONTROL-M Agent\Default\CM\AFT\stat have "Everyone" user added.

If it's always NOTOK , you can scheduled one job to remove the old files (J-2).
I use this solution without problems.

Regards
Walty

Thanks whalty, I control the permission and if necessary remove the STAT files.
You know for what is used the informations on the stat files?
I think that is for the informations in the AFT form in the Enterprise Manager.

I have asked to the suport if the STAT_* files can be removed without lost any data and they answered to me that I can:
"These files can be safely deleted"

So I do so and I will monitor if the error never happens again.

I've done a job that delete the STAT_ files older than 2 days.
But today I have the same error...

Can be that the user cant have the rights to write file, but if so it cant write it always. But if I rerun the job it works fine, and the job that go in error is not the same but is random...

I can confirm that the "STAT_*" files in the "CM/AFT/stat" folder are used from the Enterprise Manager GUI. When you open (=propreties) an AFT job in the FTP tab, that has run or is running; you can see the file trasfer statistics in %% and bytes/sec, etc.
Is you delete the corresponding file "STAT_" you have this part of the window empty: the statistics data are white.
So if you delete only the files older than 1 day you have this situation only if you load an archived view point, but for the current day you can see all fine.
In the sysout this statistics data are also reported, so you dont lost information also in the archived view point.
