Job is failing and time out for sql fetch operation

Hi,
We have a job scheduled to do Cleanup of the oracle Database data(we have a SQL query to do so). Its running on BEA Tuxedo. Generally the Job was taking 30 mins but now its job is failing after processing for more then 1 hour and getting timeout. Please suggest how to resolve and increase the performance( any parallel processing of sql..??) pls help
