Where are these Shouts coming from?

Post by kylo_h » 27 May 2008 12:21

Hi All, :D

Could someone please help with this issue that I am having.

In our organisation, we only use email and SMS alerts. We have no need to use the Alerts GUI, but for some reason, alerts keep on popping up on the alert gui, even for jobs that have no shouts defined whatsoever.

I am stumped as to where these alerts are being generated from.

If I'm not wrong, jobs can send alerts to Alert GUI by default, if jobs finished with NOTOK status. I don't know how to disable it.

Try this in CTM/EM:

Tools -> Options -> Alerts

check the option "Automatically connect to GAS" and disable it if it enabled.

Option "New Alert Notification" set up to "None".

Hope this helps! :)

P.S: I just checked the documentation:
CTM/EM USer Guide, page 185...
In the System Parameters, look for the AlertOnAbend and DownCreAlerts. These parameters are using for automatically generates shout message when job finish with NOTOK status. Check the documentation for parameters variable and disable those parameters. :)
Hope this helps (too) :). And please reply what you've done.

AlertOnAbent - is right. Change it in system parameters, but then set Shout in critical jobs to shouts if they fail, elswhere you will have no job fail notification.
