Want to be able to get an email when an alert appears on GAS

Post by srinu_028 » 29 Aug 2007 4:54

Hi Guys,
I know similar post was posted by someone ..but my setup is different.....

I use a 6.0.1 Control-M Enterprise manager on a Windows-XP machine and i basically use it for monitoring the alerts...

I want to able to get an email when ever there is an alert on the GAS. And that email should show the message that the alert has. This setup is required to manage my time between the number of LPARS that i handle. So that i would only log into that LPAR and monitor it only if there is an abend on the system or any message on GAS. Please suggest me a way for it ASAP....Thanks in Advance

email on alertes

Hy,
probably the most pratical way to do it is to make the following:
on controlm server / ctm_menu / Parameter Customization /
Shout Destination Tables / Create/Modify a Table / SYSTEM / y

and create an entry (New entry) directly defining tha mail destination as the Physical Name

so you can shout to "Logical Name" instead of ECS, and a mail will be generate.
It suppose to make the right parameters for jobs using "shout" or "do shout"
you can modify all jobs in one shot using ecs command lines
hope that can help you

Hi Thank You very much for the reply i really appriciate it...

I want to get the mail withour disturbing the alerts that come to ECS...so may be i have to set destinations as my email and ECS as well. Also is there any need to install any Email client like outlook to make this setup up and running ?

any website links or documents on this would be greatly helpful...

Thank You,

control-m server should do the send , your network mailing server should receive the thread . So it doesn't look to do anything else .

Is possible to send e-mail directly to the users insted off sending an alert, like philmalmaison suggests correctly.

Is also possible to send e-mail fron an alert.
I use this functionality in many ways, for example if the gateway disconnect there is a message in the alert window and you can send an e-mail to advertize a system administrator in this case.
