how to convert draft from version 613 to 630

Post by taker2001 » 28 May 2008 8:19

Hi CTM guru,

Ive just install Control-M version 6.3.0.1 from scratch, the previous CTM version is 6.1.03.

After installing the new version, I found that all the control-M drafts which created by version 6.1.03 is unable to use in 6.3.0.1 anymore.

When I wrote the draft(version 6.1.03) to CONTROL-M, it throw the following error:

Is there any tools could convert the draft from version 6.1.03 to 6.3.0.1?

Try these steps:

1. Open the 6.1 draft
2. Mass update datacenter name to the new one
3. Save and close the draft
4. Open the saved draft again
5. Write to EM and upload to CTM

In fact,
Draft version 6.1 are not compatible with version 6.3.

The only way will be to keep an old version of Control-EM 6.1 only to read the draft and export with XML format.

XML is totaly compatible to be load with 6.3.

Hi fyot,

Could you by any chances specify how to export the draft to a xml file?

Do you mean that using the migration toolkit?

Import and export utilities are for the job definitions only.

The migration migrate also components and systems parameters.

For example think to the "user daily" information (SYSTEM and others) , are not stored in a definition xml file.

Hi Ronald,

Mauriziog had totally right about migration tool kit.
In fact, migration could be done with different way.
To depend on what do you want to migrate.

If migration concerns all Control-m components, migration tool kit is the best way.

Now, if you migrate step by step, or only some existing jobs but not all, and all others possibilities, you can use xml import and export utilities.
