Installation Control-M, EM, GUI on Win XP SP2

Post by desmod » 09 May 2007 11:56

Hi everyone,
I am new to Control-M. I want to install GUI on WinXP SP2 machine for
testing, but it go badly.
I have an existing Oracle server 9.2.04 and Oracle client 9.2.04 on WinXP
SP2 machine. When I run setup from CD "Control-M/EM for Microsoft Windows 6.2.01" and I choose any of Setup type it appears 'Install Oracle Client v. 9.2.04 before installing Control-M/EM 6.2.01'.

Thanks for your time.

Is there any solution for this problem?

And I have the another question - it is possible to install Control-M/EM in client mode, with Oracle Client, on WinXP SP1 machine? Because the customer can't use SP2 on this particular machine - some other production applications don't support SP2.

Any help will be appreciated.

EM clients components do not require an oracle client or oracle installation.

Yes, it is possible to install clients components on this XP SP1 :)

Enough? :)

I know that, it is posiible when you installed without Reporting facility. But what if I need Reporting facility on that machine? ;)
THAT'S the problem. ;)

I have installed only the EM GUI without the oracle client on sp1. On SP2 I successfuly tried all of the choices (i think).
Do you have a problem to install oracle client? In which phase it "crashes" or how did you recognized, that it is not working.

Me too, and it works fine.

Well, if I'm using installation prepared by BMC, following mesage appears:
"MS Service Pack 2 (or above) is required to be installed prior to installing this product. Setup will now abort".

If I'm bypassing this custom installation for Oracle client, installing client without using this customized installation, CONTROL-M installation did not recognize installed Oracle client.
I think that CONTROL-M can't find Oracle listener in this case.

have you tried installation of CM/EM with existing oracle client?
look at the knowledge base and find:
SLN000000165507
And maybe look for the:
B---101142

I haven't tried it.

Hi,

Verify if the integrated XP firewall is enable.
It's certainly why the Orbix client don't have any access with Control-M/EM.

The server EM has the ufficial compatibility with the XP pro with sp2.
Install the last fix pack of the EM too.

But the xp sp2 have some problems with the windows local firewall, that are activated automatically, this may cause the problem.

With the xp home there are some problems also with clients.

Have a good day
