Yes you can install the EM with a database on another server
We did it with V7 MSSQL 2008 so I think it will be possible with V8 as well

Control-M has predefined "Condition Formats" in Desktop under Tools -> Links.

Maybe you can select one of it and add a variable in there for the Node id.

Haven't tried it so I do not know if it is possible

We only now upgraded to all the latest fix packs and I made the change from XAL to SAP ONLY.

The error stopped and I could delete the log file

I think if you create a node group and select a specific application type, you can use that group only for those type of jobs. If you create a node group with application type SAP R3, this node group will use the SAP module and you won't be able to run jobs created for other module types using this ...
