The problem is, how will ControlM know what is a business day without a calendar!
Business days are different in different countries dependent on religion, holidays etc.

You could set up your own complex script with autoedits etc, to dynamically decide if today is a business day,
but calendars are the best way. Using calendars you can get ControlM to shift jobs before/after holidays etc.

A easy way for autoedits to determine if today is the last day of the month:
Rather than checking each month length and leap year, just do a calcdate on tomorrow and see if that is the 1st.
