Hi,

I installed Control-M EM as administrator. After installation, when i click on Icon it prompts for username/password and it takes the server name automatically. Wheni enter the username/password i'm getting the message" SERVER NOT RUNNING UNDER THE CONTEXT" the server name.
CORBA CONFIGURATION FILE NOT CONFIGURED Properly". I'm connecting to the control-M EM from a remote location. I have done the host entries so that it can connect to the server. Please let me know you inputs.

See the documentation: Enterprise Manger Installation guide at the section:
Post Intallation configurations.

You must define in the "Administration Facility" all the components:
GUI server, Gateways, GAS, GCS

In 6.2 after you have defined the GUI server you can open the Enterprise manager gui and define de gateway, return on the Administration Facility and define de Gateway...

For more detail go to the documentation and installation guide.

The control-M server is already installed in remote location and working fine.
we have installed control-M client from one of the desktop in same location that is working fine

The same installation has been done in another remote lacation and that is where i am getting the error mesage while i connect to the server.

I can also confirm that we are able to connect to the control-M server but not able to login to control M.

The remote location where this problem persists is having PATed IP Address.

Can you advice on the same.

The installation of that you have problems is a client installation ?
The EM server is installed and working?

If so try to ping the EM server machine.

And from the em server machine try ping to the client machine.

In the login window in advanced button witch name and port you have configurated?

Say me the result of these tests.

Yes, the Control-M/EM installation is fine at local site. Control-M/EM GUI client at local site can connect to Control-M/EM GUI server without problems. Problem client is the remote client. For your better understanding of the problem, i have given the details below.

Control-M/EM GUI server is in UK. Its IP address is 172.16.1.122.
Contro-M/EM GUI Client installed on a desktop in india which has a physical IP address of 10. 10.1.21. This desktop uses a NATEd IP address of 192.168.1.122 to connect to Control-M/EM GUI server. However there is no Nated IP address for the desktop. not sure if this is going to be a problem.

When launching the GUI client on the desktop, the GUI server name appears in the drop down list automatically. The host name of GUI server and the port 13075 is configured correctly on the client (config.xml) and it appears on the client. I have added an entry in the hosts file on the desktop so that the host name of GUI server resolves to 192.168.1.122 (which is NATed IP address of GUI server).

On the GUI server i cannot ping the GUI client's host name as there is no NATed IP address available for that desktop. I am not sure how to go about this as the desktop is configured obtaining IP address from DHCP server. Can you please suggest how to go about in this scenario?.

Is it a requirement that GUI Client's IP address should be resolved via DNS on the GUI server?. Do we have to go for a static IP address for the remote cleint and NAT it so that GUI server can ping the client's IP address?. Your help is much appriciated. Thanks a lot for the help so far.

In Simple, following are the answers to your question.

1. I am able to ping Control-M/EM GUI server hostname and IP address from the client (note that GUI server IP address is NATed)
2. Host name and port (13065) is configured properly. Can resolve host name to GUI server IP address.
3. I am not able to ping the client host name / IP address from the GUI server.

Hi,

Control-M tools run across hostname and dns resolution.
So, if a client want to be connected with your Control-EM Server you need to be able to resolve ip adress in the two way.

You can verify it using nslookup on your server to access to your desktop an the same in the other way.

So your desktop could be configured with DHCP, but the desktop hostname need to find across the DNS Server from your server.

You should requested some help from your Network administrator.

You can reach the GUI server but the GUI server cant send to you informations.
Yes you must reach by name or IP the client from GUI server. Try to add the client in the hosts file of the gui server and make possible for it to reach the client.

The options of updating hosts file of the control-M server has been updated
the client is able to ping and able to RDP to the control-M server, but not pingable from control-m Server the clent
The concept of connectivity is done through pating the ip.

Hi, I have exactely the same problem
I try to describe my control M platform
Local host: windows XP SP2 + basic clients GUI and desktop 6.2.01 FIX PACK4
Remote host: HP-UX + control M/EM 6.2.01 FIX PACK 4

connexion Local --> Remote : OK on port 3085
connexion for return information : Remote --> Local : KO
I have open all ports in firewall for return connexion on [ 1024 ; 65356]

I have check that the connexion Remote --> Local is enable.
in Local host, I choose a listened port whith netstat -an in a DOS windows.
I choose only connexion with ESTABLISHED status

I added the hostname on my local host in the /etc/hosts of remote server
and in a Unix session on the remote server, I try
telnet my_local_host my_local_port
and the validate that the return connexion is OK

But, I have the same error message.
Have I to config something in the corba service on my local post?
Is there some debugging tools delivered whith control M 6.2.01, or logs ( in local or remote host)
Thank you for you help...
